The Adventures of Yesterday!
Yesterday was a big day for the town of Mollejones, which is the town over from me. The world champion rafting team from Japan arrived to scout the Racuare river for the rafting championship which will happen here in October. Thirty five other teams will compete for the title of the world championship My family went to greet the team in the morning. The town had prepared a little parade for them, when they first arrived. It was very sweet. After the parade the whole town gathered to officially give them a warm welcome and to tell them a little bit about the history of the town. I had the opportunity to help translate for the team, which was awesome. It was my first time translating and although I was no where near perfect I did my best. It was pretty cool. When I was translating how the town came to be and how the people who first arrived in the town had to fight off tigers and cobras I couldn't believe it! The town is very small, consisting of only 40 families so the arrival of the team was the biggest thing that has ever happened here. They were making history!
After greeting the team and translating, my family and a group of friends took a little adventure into the mountains to "La Catarata" which translates as a waterfall. It was awesome!
Below are some photos of the day.
Here are two short clips from the hike to the waterfall!
