El Mercado/The Market

Yesterday after I graded all the English exams at the school my family and I took a trip to the market. Yet unlike in the states the store is not conveniently 5 minutes down the road. To get anywhere it takes about an hour to get to civilization through the mountains. It's crazy!!! And the roads are so rough to drive on.

My family goes to the market once a month to buy all they need for that month. Yet instead of going to the store they go to "El Mercado" first which sells all the fresh produce they need and then to the store to buy anything else they may need. In addition, it is not only a family event but a whole day excursion as well. We left at 12:00pm and got home at 9:30pm. Needless to say I was exhausted from shopping.

These picture are of the outside market. The lady and the couple both asked me to take their picture.
Lastly this is a picture of me from this morning. This truck is right outside of my house. It is full of produce as well. It drives up through the mountains stopping at any house that would like to buy from them. We bought some garlic, papaya and mango!

There are lots and lots of fresh fruits and veggies!
